What Sold me on Flodesk - And Why I Will Never Switch
If you are looking to market your accounting firm there are plenty of resources out there that will help you learn marketing. From podcasts and books to apps and tutorials, there is no shortage of knowledge on how to sell your services.
The problem is a lot of the content out there is geared towards marketers working in medium to large businesses. Not small businesses trying to figure out how to get their name out there.
The result? A lot of overwhelming content that isn’t actually helpful.
Which is why when I discovered Flodesk in 2020, I was sold and have never even considered switching.
See Flodesk is an email application that has an intuitive user interface. You can easily pick up on how to navigate all the different features while also not missing any of the advanced tools you need as you grow.
The Interface
Fun fact: When Google first tested out users experience with the search engine did you know most people just didn’t do anything and stared blankly at the page….what were they doing? Turns out they were waiting for the rest of the page to load. Most of the website and search engines up to that point were littered with links, images, ads, buttons, and all sorts of graphics. The Google search page was so simple, there is no way that was all that they put on the page?!
The result is what we know today - it was a hit. And it still is! People want a simple user interface. They want simple design with features they can easily find. But they also do not want to sacrifice features - they just want clean!
That is exactly what Flodesk is. A very simply designed user interface, with not a lot of random buttons but still contains everything you need.
The image below is my Flodesk dashboard. Super slick and clean, right?
This is what really sold me on Flodesk.
When you consider other platforms, I feel overwhelmed with all the buttons, confusing terminology, and just unnecessary information. You don’t get that with Flodesk. Whatever you are looking to do you can quickly see and access in just a few clicks.
Analytics
One area of email campaigns that often throws users is analytics. There is just so much data, charts, and numbers….what should I be caring about?
Again, Flodesk’s simple user interface provides you with clear data but doesn’t skimp on the details.
Workflows
You see this with their tools too. For example, workflows and automations can be difficult to manage if you are just getting started. Which is why the interface for developing workflows in Flodesk is another favorite. The clean visual allows you to quickly map out your workflows.
The Advanced Tools
I realize that with simple design there may be an initial concern as to whether there are all the same functionalities of some other applications. Let me put it this way - everything I have ever wanted to do I can do in Flodesk. It doesn’t skimp on the tools and has plenty of advanced features that allow for a comprehensive email campaign strategy.
Folders
This one you would maybe not consider an advanced tool but I think the clear way they have it laid out is unique and allows you to use it like an advanced tool.
With folders for all your different types of work - emails, contacts, workflows, etc., you can keep everything organized and color coded. This has made it really easy for me to see what folders are active, “archived”, template specific, or even more unique points of work.
Workflows
Above I talked about how the user interface of workflows was fantastic because of the clear design but it is also a really advanced tool within the platform. With workflows you can set time delays, add / remove contacts from segments, send specific emails, and add conditions. Flodesk was doing AIs and automations before it was so cool and ever since I started using them I have saved hours (if not days) in the back and forth emails.
Analytics
Which popup, form, or sign up is doing the best on your website?
Don’t know? Flodesk does.
When you integrate their form tools with your website you are able to pull analytics like the number of opt ins, visitors, and the conversion rate. This is a game changer for an accounting firm that is looking to understand what users are experiencing when they visit your website.
But my FAVORITE part of the analytics section is the email analytics. Here I can see the sort of standard analytics you see on a lot of platforms….open rate, click rate, unsubscribe rate. Normal stuff.
But here I can also see how many emails I send per month (and cross reference this with the number of sales I make). And yes, I totally see a correlation!
Something else I love is the clear data telling me what days and times are the best when it comes to sending an email. I probably shouldn’t share this but look!
This gives me clear color coded information on what days and times work in regards to my click through and open rate. It also gives me information so I can test out when I should be sending my most important emails….I wonder if I should start sending emails on Tuesdays or Thursdays?
